Chez les artistes les plus communs, les mieux partag\u00e9s les monstres que malgr\u00e9 tout on adore, on ne sauve de trop de morceaux que de sempiternelles scies. Pire encore que les \u00ab\u00a0Best of\u00a0\u00bb, les \u00ab\u00a0Greatest Hits\u00a0\u00bb ; on se demande si ces monstres plaisent parce qu&rsquo;ils sont connus ou l&rsquo;inverse. Comme de toute fa\u00e7on le parcours d&rsquo;un artiste est in\u00e9gal, on cherche \u00e0 sauver les perles, les tentatives pus hardies, les risques plus sinc\u00e8res. Ce sont donc ces <em>Choix musicaux<\/em>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><br ><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amboilati.org\/chantier\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/prince_live.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[566]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.amboilati.org\/chantier\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/prince_live.jpg\" alt=\"prince_live\" width=\"498\" height=\"375\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-10272\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.amboilati.org\/chantier\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/prince_live.jpg 498w, https:\/\/www.amboilati.org\/chantier\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/prince_live-300x226.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 498px) 100vw, 498px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Pr\u00e9alable [m\u00e0j janvier 2016]<\/h3>\n<p>Comme d&rsquo;habitude, on essaie de couvrir toutes les p\u00e9riodes, et donc tous les albums, de l&rsquo;artiste. Pas facile avec Prince, qui a d&rsquo;une part un fort catalogue et d&rsquo;autre part des albums dont chacun sait qu&rsquo;ils sont tr\u00e8s in\u00e9gaux \u2014 sans parler de tous les albums diffus\u00e9s uniquement sur son site de l&rsquo;\u00e9poque, le NPG Music Club, des chansons rares ou introuvables, parfois g\u00e9niales, des productions, des pseudonymes, etc.<\/p>\n<p>Je me suis limit\u00e9 (!) \u00e0 trois disques,et 45 chansons, ce qui est \u00e9norme et minuscule \u00e0 la fois ! J&rsquo;ai laiss\u00e9 de c\u00f4t\u00e9 les bootlegs trop mal produits et, on le remarquera, les albums du d\u00e9but semblent moins repr\u00e9sent\u00e9s. C&rsquo;est un leurre : la plupart des gens pr\u00e9f\u00e8rent les d\u00e9buts de Prince jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 <em>Lovesexy<\/em>, puis on change de g\u00e9n\u00e9ration semble-t-il. (On laisse les ann\u00e9es 80, ce qui n&rsquo;est d\u00e9j\u00e0 pas si mal).<\/p>\n<p>Or, pour m\u00e9moire, <em>Cream<\/em> ou <em>Sexy Motherfucker<\/em> datent de 1991 et 1992, c&rsquo;est-\u00e0-dire d&rsquo;il y a vingt-cinq ans. Depuis <em>For you<\/em>, en 1978, jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e9tonnant <em>HITnRUN phase 2<\/em> de 2016, il y a trente-deux ann\u00e9es de production et la p\u00e9riode \u00ab\u00a0initiale\u00a0\u00bb, celle incarn\u00e9e par <em>Sign o&rsquo; the times<\/em> ou <em>Purple rain<\/em>, ne repr\u00e9sente qu&rsquo;une part infime de ce parcours. En v\u00e9rit\u00e9, j&rsquo;ai cherch\u00e9 \u00e0 balancer harmoniquement les choix sur toute la p\u00e9riode. Paradoxalement les ann\u00e9es 2000 sont les plus prolifiques, avec bien quatorze albums (<em>14<\/em> albums ! compris les deux lives ; il y a d\u00e9j\u00e0 cinq albums depuis 2010), mais aussi les plus secr\u00e8tes avec une popularit\u00e9 en berne. Cela n&rsquo;a pas emp\u00each\u00e9 bien s\u00fbr Prince ni de chanter de beaux titres, ni de tourner, bien au contraire.<\/p>\n<p>J&rsquo;ai donc \u00ab\u00a0sauv\u00e9\u00a0\u00bb une 45 chansons issues d&rsquo;une trentaine d&rsquo;albums.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Pistes<\/h3>\n<p><b>Funckin&rsquo;Prince<\/b><\/p>\n<p>En retravaillant cette liste, en retombant dans le bain, j&rsquo;ai r\u00e9alis\u00e9 une version courte, les indispensables qui tiennent en un seul disque. Point de chansons issues de quatorze albums tout de m\u00eame !<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0<i>For you<\/i>, ce premier essai autoproduit est plein de qualit\u00e9s, mais hormis \u00e9ventuellement <i>Soft and wet<\/i>, aucune chanson ne franchit les grilles de s\u00e9lection. Idem pour <i>Prince<\/i>, le second album. Il faut dire que ces chansons ont bien mal vieilli (encore que : les derniers essais discographiques ont bien retrouv\u00e9 le son et l&rsquo;esprit de ces d\u00e9buts).<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0<i>Batman<\/i> : il faut quand m\u00eame pas d\u00e9conner.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0<i>Chaos &#038; disorder<\/i> : album contractuel tr\u00e8s rock ; mais rien ne surnage r\u00e9ellement.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0<i>N.E.W.S.<\/i> et <i>C-Note<\/i>. J&rsquo;aime beaucoup le premier de ces albums, compos\u00e9 de quatre morceaux de 14 minutes (<em>North<\/em>, <em>East<\/em>, <em>West<\/em>, <em>South<\/em>), mais il est difficile d&rsquo;en extraire un titre repr\u00e9sentatif pour l&rsquo;\u0153uvre de Prince, d&rsquo;autant qu&rsquo;un extrait de <em>Xpectation<\/em> est d\u00e9j\u00e0 pr\u00e9sent dans le choix, qui est vraiment dans ce m\u00eame esprit jazz (et d&rsquo;autant qu&rsquo;on a sauv\u00e9 la chanson <em>Xenophobia<\/em>, toujours \u00e9galement proche).<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0<em>Goldnigga<\/em>, <em>Exodus<\/em>. Je dois les r\u00e9\u00e9couter attentivement.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0<i>Planet Earth<\/i>, <em>20Ten<\/em>, <i>Lotus Flow3r<\/i>, <em>Plectrum electrum<\/em>, <em>Art official age<\/em> et <em>HITnRUN Phase One<\/em>.
